Nomadic Soundscapes, the field recording project by artist and traveler Jacob Riley, announces the release of its first physical CD — “Coffee Bar”, a short EP with a total runtime of 11 minutes.
Recorded in a small café on one of Barcelona’s lively streets, Coffee Bar presents an authentic slice of the city’s daily rhythm. The EP blends the soft clatter of cups, murmured conversations, the distant echo of traffic, and the unmistakable hiss of the espresso machine — forming a vivid soundscape that transports listeners directly into the café’s atmosphere.
“Coffee Bar” stands as an exploration of urban ambience and acoustic storytelling. Rather than using instruments, it focuses entirely on the natural sound environment — transforming ordinary noise into a meditative listening experience.
“Every city has its voice, and every café its heartbeat,” says Jacob Riley. “With Coffee Bar, I wanted to preserve that fleeting atmosphere — the warmth, the movement, and the feeling of simply being present.”
The release marks an important milestone for Nomadic Soundscapes — the first CD edition in the growing catalog of field recordings that document authentic sound environments from across Europe and beyond.
